Ronald McDonald House Construction Tour

The Construction Tour of the Ronald McDonald House was a great event thanks to our sponsors—Messer Construction, Heapy Engineering, and GBBN Architects—and the participants that came to experience it!

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati is working on a new expansion to their current location. The 6-story tower will include 106 new rooms for families as well as all new facilities. In addition to the new construction, the older wings of the House are being renovated.

The expansion is being built to match the rising needs of Cincinnati Children’s families. As its footprint and patient population has grown, the House has had inadequate space to keep up with demand. To meet these needs, the new and updated facilities will include indoor and outdoor play space, studies, and an industrial kitchen in addition to the new rooms.

Messer, Heapy, and GBBN were all able to shed light on the monumental task of developing this space will keeping the doors of the Ronald McDonald House open to families in need. Construction is scheduled to finish in June 2020 and the new building will open a few months after!

A project of this scale doesn’t come together without a huge amount of collaboration: Messer Construction are the general contractors for the project, GBBN Architects are the lead architects, the Kleingers Group are the civil engineers and landscape architects, Heapy Engineering are the mechanical engineers, and THP Limited Co. are the structural engineers.

We also held a goods drive in conjunction with the tour: participants brought toys, food, and toiletries for the families staying in the House! They are always in need; if you would like to donate, you can find their needs and instructions here.
