Over 800 people participated in the inaugural Doors Open OTR. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success! Check back next year for Doors Open v2.0!

Join the AFC as we launch our new program to showcase great architecture and design in the community. See the investment that has been made in this community by businesses and arts organizations. Doors Open OTR will include more that 25 unique venues throughout the OTR community allowing you to discover what’s happening behind closed doors.

The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati is pleased to introduce its new program, Doors Open OTR. This afternoon event is designed to celebrate architecture and design in our community by providing access to normally inaccessible places. We are focusing on Over-the-Rhine this year to showcase the commitment that has been made in this important community. While many organizations have showcased the residential development, we will be focusing on arts organizations and businesses that have made a commitment to the growth and vibrancy of Over-the-Rhine.

The participating venues are excited to showcase what they are doing to the public. Many have made substantial investments in the community that are not readily visible from the street, and attendees will have the opportunity to look behind the scenes of these unique venues. They range from arts organizations, such as the Art Academy, the Shakespeare Company, Uptown Arts, and Memorial Hall, to design and architecture businesses, such as A359, M+A Architects, NorthPointe Group, and Platte Design + Architecture. In addition, unique destinations, such as Cintrifuse and People’s Liberty, will showcase organizations that target empowering entrepreneurs and artists who are helping to make Over-the-Rhine the creative community that it is becoming. The program is targeting 25-30 venues for 2017 with 27 currently committed to participate.

Attendees will use the new Doors Open OTR app to access information on the venues they wish to see, allowing them to build custom tours that align with their personal interests. Each venue will also provide tour guides to answer questions about their locations, and many will include displays to showcase their creativity and what they do on a daily basis. Admission is free, but attendees must register for the event.
