Join us at the Union Terminal on June 12, 2019 to honor Elizabeth Pierce, on behalf of the Cincinnati Museum Center team as the 2019 Apple Award honoree. Pierce has earned this recognition through her incredible leadership throughout the renovation process of the Union Terminal. It was a tremendous team effort that took top professionals from every corner of the building process to complete. It is through their dedication combined with an enormous amount of work that they were able to restore one of the most iconic buildings in Cincinnati. To lead such an effort with so many continuously moving parts proved Pierce to be undeniably worthy of this honor.
The Apple Gala will honor Pierce’s contribution to Cincinnati’s built environment while raising funds to support Design LAB, a K-12 architecture and design education program that reaches about 2,000 students in the Greater Cincinnati Area each year as well as other AFC programs.

Design LAB: Learn And Build is a design education program offered to Cincinnati area K-12 classrooms. This program is offered for free to area classrooms and is made possible by generous contributions from organizations and individuals. We need your support to make Design LAB a success. Join us in building into our future. About 60 teachers in 100 classrooms, 100 volunteers and approximately 2000 students across our community are working together to learn, create and innovate. This year’s Educators’ Guide gives teachers a wealth of learning resources aligned with Ohio’s New Learning Standards so teachers can use Design LAB to enhance classroom learning in social studies, science, math, language arts, technology, and other subjects. Generous volunteers from architectural firms, construction companies, interior design studios and others will spend in excess of 600 hours working with students. Please help us continue to improve and broaden this unique educational tool that engages students in real-world solutions. It costs the foundation less than $25.00 per student to make Design LAB happen. Through this program, we can introduce students to the built environment in a direct and enjoyable way, stoking their curiosity, creativity, and understanding. Checks are also accepted and can be made payable to The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati. Please contact us at 513-421-4469 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
