As communities like Over the Rhine experience
redevelopment and growth, the long-time residents of
the community are impacted by changing economic
models that can drive up existing rents and drive out
businesses that have served the community over time.
The goals of effective community planning are to create
affordable housing to serve a diverse community and
wide range of economic needs. The challenge of
balancing development opportunities without negatively
impacting current residents is one that few cities have
addressed or solved. Please join the AFC and OTRCH
on April 18 for a roundtable discussion of this critical
topic. The panel will be moderated by Allen Woods of
MORTAR and will include the following individuals:
• Mary Burke Rivers – OTRCH affordable housing advocate
• Mona Jenkins, Walnut Hills resident
• David Thompson, VP of Affordable Housing, Model Group
• Chris Hikel – new OTR resident and rental property owner
• David Mann – Cincinnati City Councilman
• Nick Swartsell.- CityBeat reporter
