Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati gave the prestigious Alice and Harris Weston Apple Award to The Honorable Arn Bortz at a banquet on May 7. Bortz is a developer and former Cincinnati mayor (1983-84) and council member. Several other former mayors joined high-ranking officials and CEOs of architecture, construction, development, and financial firms in celebrating his contributions to Greater Cincinnati’s built environment. A partner in Towne Properties, Bortz pioneered new mixed-use construction and adaptive reuse projects for downtown living in the 1990s. Arn Bortz’s dedication to urban living is evident in his most recent residential projects, which include ongoing construction of Adams Landing north of the Ohio River and Roebling Row in Covington, Kentucky. Turner Construction Company was the Presenting Sponsor for the event; Towne Properties was Associate Sponsor. Other sponsors were Cole + Russell Architects, HGC Construction, and Miller Valentine Group’s One River Plaza. Mark McKillip chaired the event and introduced Bortz—the 39th recipient of the Apple Award. The annual gala benefits the education programs of the foundation.
