AFC Hosted AIA Cincinnati Bike Shelter Design Competition

AFC hosted The American Institute of Architects Cincinnati Bike Shelter Design Competition. AIA Cincinnati partnered with Queen City Bike and the bicycle storage company Saris to host the competition.

The design proposals had to meet the following requirements:

  • Secure and protected storage for 8 bicycles minimum
  • Accessible to the public
  • Considered as part of a bike sharing program

Chad Gnant’s entry won the entire competition! His entry proposed the conversation between two parking spaces in the Vine Street Kroger parking lot. The space would have a shelter for 4 bicycles and 6 bike share spaces with lighting, space for cargo bikes, tandems and trailers, and a polycarbonate cover to protect the bikes from the elements.

Congrats to Chad, all participants, and everyone who worked hard to make the competition a success!
