Albert Paley: On His Work
The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati presents an illustrated lecture by the noted metal sculptor, Albert Paley, whose work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Victoria and Albert Museum; Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, and the Smithsonian's National Museum of American Art. Paley is the first metal sculptor to receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Institute of Architects. He is creating a large metal sculpture for One River Plaza, a luxury development on the riverfront at Yeatman's Cove. Huff Realty, Miller-Valentine Group, and Cole+Russell Architects are sponsoring Paley's appearance
Apple Award Gala Honoring Tom Schiff
Thomas R. Schiff, the distinguished Cincinnati business and civic leader whose avocation is architectural photography, will receive the prestigious Alice F. and Harris K. Weston Apple Award. The American Architectural Foundation has mounted a current exhibition of Mr. Schiff's photographs at its Octagon Museum in Washington, D.C. His books on Cincinnati, Ohio, and national architecture have brought increased awareness and recognition to all those featured. Lead sponsor for the gala black-tie evening is Cole + Russell Architects.
Art Deco Architecture of Cincinnati
To celebrate the publication of the groundbreaking work, Architecture in Cincinnati: An Illustrated History of Designing and Building an American City, Cincinnati Preservation Association presents an illustrated lecture by Architectural Foundation Director and cultural historian Sue Ann Painter. Art Deco is one of the styles covered in the book. AFC is a cosponsor of this program.
Architecture in Cincinnati: Part Two
Beth Sullebarger, co-author of Architecture in Cincinnati: An Illustrated History of Designing and Building an American City, presents a two-part course on local architectural history from 1934 to the present. AFC is a cosponsor of this program.
